• The title of this song/poem is very definite: This love-affair is over! The next several verses emphasize this fact. Indeed, they seem to over-emphasize his assertion that he has gotten over the break-up.  Yet, do we believe him when he maintains repeatedly: “Es tut nicht mehr weh” and “Es ist mir egal”? Find other examples of his insistence that he’s just fine since she left. To paraphrase Shakespeare, “perhaps he protests too much”.

• Explain the reference to the “Fernseher”. What happened, and what was the cause? The TV can be replaced by the insurance company; what about a deeply-felt relationship? 

• Apparently they still meet occasionally. In the bar she sees a sadness in his face. How does he explain it? Are you convinced by his explanation?

• Last 5 lines: why does he insist that she just get on with it (“geh doch einfach weiter”)? What does it mean for him if she doesn’t? Do these lines agree with or contradict the rest of the song/poem? Explain your answer.

• What is your opinion of the speaker? Is he strong? weak? How is he dealing with the end of this relationship? Does he put up a façade? If so, why?
